Defeating former champions ATK by 3-2 score, Chennaiyin FC clinched victory in 18th match of ongoing Hero Indian Super League 2017. The match was played on 7th December this year at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium located in Chennai. The winner team jumped to top position in ISL points table while the looser one dropped to bottom zone in the same chart.
The soccer match commenced with footballers of both teams trying their best to score first goal for their team. Struggling hard in the initial phase of the game, no team succeeded in scoring a single goal in first 45 minutes. The score remained 0-0 till the end of first half of the match.
At 65th minute, Jeje Lalpekhlua scored first goal for Chennaiyin FC. The home team acquired 1-0 lead in the game and opponents geared up their performance to level the scores. At 77th minute, ATK equalised the score with the help of goal scored by Zequinha. The score became 1-1 after the goal scored by guest team.
For next 7 minutes, audiences witnessed stringent competition between the two well-experienced teams. At 84th minute, Inigo Calderon scored the second goal for Chennaiyin FC and the home team once again attained lead in the match. No sooner did the score become 2-1 than Kolkata’s footballer Njazi Kuqi made it 2-2 by scoring 2nd goal for ATK at 89th minute.
At 91st minute, Chennaiyin FC’s soccer player Jeje Lalpekhlua scored his 2nd goal of the match. With this goal, Chennai’s team dominated the game with 3-2 lead and defeated the defending champions. The home team registered third consecutive win in this edition of Hero Indian Super League.
Chennaiyin FC is scheduled to confront with Mumbai City FC in its next match which will be played on 10th December at Mumbai Football Arena. ATK will be up against Mumbai’s football team in its upcoming soccer match which is about to be played on 17th December at Mumbai Football Arena.
